The Pepper Bough is published once a month by the journalism classes in the interests of Colton High School, 777 West Valley Boulevard, Colton, California 92324. The opinions expressed in the Pepper Bough are those of the individual writer whose story is bylined. Opinions expressed in non-bylined staff editorials (those with no writer's name attached) are those of the majority of the staff as a whole. Opinions expressed in the paper are not necessarily those of the administration, staff, School District, or Board of Education. This website is not in any way endorsed or supported, financially or otherwise, by the school district or Colton High School. It is entirely put together by the staff and adviser of the Pepper Bough.

The Pepper Bough is dedicated to the premise of a free exchange of ideas. We pride ourselves in adhering to stringent guidelines of professional scholastic journalism as set forth by United States Supreme court decisions regarding freedom of the student press. We also follow the California Education Code and Colton Joint Unified School District Guidelines pertaining to freedom of speech and the press, specifically, the student press.

We use our full names and the full names of students in this online paper. Go here to find out why we feel it is acceptable to do this.

CONTACT US! The Pepper Bough welcomes letters to the editor. They will be published according to space available at the discretion of the adviser and student editors. Letters must be signed and in good taste. We retain the right to edit or delete letters. As a student workshop for the teaching of real-world journalism skills, the Pepper Bough is cognizant of the cruicial importance of funding. The Pepper Bough is totally self-supporting, generating all the funds necessary for its operation through  fundraisers and advertising. Advertising is available in full page, half page, quarter page and smaller increments. Due to space limitations, the Pepper Bough encourages the use of flyers and inserts. Local businesses who wish to tap into the treasure trove of teenage spending money should contact us about placing an ad in our paper. We need money.Thank you for your support of scholastic journalism.
 

The Pepper Bough is a member of the Inland Journalism Education Association and the Quill and Scroll Society of National Scholastic Journalists. The Pepper Bough is proud to have been recognized as the "Best High School Newspaper" in San Bernardino County in a contest conducted by the San Bernardino County Sun two of the last three years (1999 and 1997.) We came in second in 1998.
